Looking for the SAP GUI 8.10 download? SAP GUI for Windows 8.10 became generally available on July 16, 2026, and it replaces SAP GUI 8.00, whose support ends in 2027. What SAP GUI is and why version 8.10 matters
SAP GUI is SAP’s classic desktop client: the SAP Logon pad where you pick a system and client, and the screens where you run transaction codes such as FB03, ME21N or SE16H. Every SAP GUI release has an end-of-support date. After it, SAP stops shipping patches, including security fixes, so IT teams need to upgrade in time.

Release 8.10 was originally planned for February 2026 and was postponed to July to improve quality. SAP Note 1053737 lists the planned dates of upcoming patch levels.
What’s new in SAP GUI 8.10
Horizon theme and Quick Theming
The most visible change is the Horizon theme, the successor of the Quartz family, aligned with the current SAP Fiori design. It improves focus visibility and makes editable and read-only fields easier to tell apart, including in tables. Quick Theming lets you adjust the main interface colors, and the theme can follow the Windows light, dark or high-contrast setting automatically.
SAP Logon and navigation improvements
- A more powerful SAP Logon filter with OR, AND and NOT operators.
- Taskbar grouping by system ID, or by system ID plus client.
- Better keyboard navigation in ALV Grid and Table Control.
- Transaction search in the OK code field enabled by default.
Technical changes and removed components
- Improved local caching of remote configuration files such as security rules and themes (SAP Note 3579956).
- WebView2 (Microsoft Edge based) control improvements and SSO handling without browser extensions.
- JScript (.js) support for scripting, replacing VBScript, which Microsoft has deprecated.
- BW Business Explorer (BEx) is no longer part of the default installation and is installed separately (SAP Note 3691456). The legacy SAPscript text editor is also excluded (SAP Note 2221815).
- Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available, but only one per device.

Supported operating systems
SAP GUI 8.10 supports Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 through 2025. If you still run Windows 10 devices, check SAP’s Product Availability Matrix (PAM) before rolling out. Mac and Linux users need SAP GUI for Java, which has its own release schedule.
How to download SAP GUI 8.10
SAP GUI is not available on a public website. You need an SAP S-user with software download authorization, usually held by your Basis or IT team.
- Log in to the SAP for Me Software Download Center (me.sap.com/softwarecenter) with your S-user.
- Search for “SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS” and select release 8.10.
- Download the installation package with the latest available patch level.
- If your users need Business Explorer, download its components separately (SAP Note 3691456).
End users without an S-user should ask their IT department: most companies distribute SAP GUI centrally.
How to install SAP GUI 8.10
- Close all open SAP GUI sessions.
- Extract the package and run the installer (SapGuiSetup.exe) as administrator.
- Choose the 32-bit or 64-bit version (only one per device) and select the components you need.
- Finish the installation and open SAP Logon. Existing connections are kept if they are stored in your user’s SAP Logon configuration file or in a central file.
- To add a connection, click “New Item”, choose a custom application server and enter the application server, instance number and system ID provided by Basis.
- Optional: in the SAP GUI options, switch to the Horizon theme and try Quick Theming.
Larger companies usually deploy SAP GUI with the SAP GUI Installation Server, which builds packages with the organization’s components and settings and distributes them silently.
Upgrade checklist: SAP GUI 8.00 to 8.10
- Review SAP GUI Scripting in VBScript and plan the move to JScript or another technology.
- Identify BEx and legacy SAPscript editor users, who need extra installation steps.
- Test critical transactions and ALV reports with the Horizon theme in a pilot group.
- Complete the rollout before January 2027, when 8.00 moves to restricted support.
